"Setting for production” is the first group exhibition of P 38: a new project for contemporary art founded in Lucca.
P 38 is a no-profit area for artistic production, open to projects and collaborations with international artists and institutions, curated by Paolo Emilio Antognoli Viti.
Artists from various countries (Rabea Eipperle, Jan Haubelt, Helena Hladilova, Filippo Manzini, Gian Andrea Poletti, Namsal Siedlecki, Filip Smetana) have been invited to work on the idea of "set" in its broadest sense of apparatus to arrange and display objects, concepts or people; a set often aimed at a production (in its widest sense: shooting video or film, photography, shows, performances, events, etc..), and often oriented by economic and spectacular reasons.
The question is what remains and what disappears after production?
The project aims to discover (through artists’ work) whether the image preparation, the set construction, the layout of objects or even actions for the public, o, produces a gap between the final product and the initial stages of creation.
The exhibition "Setting for production" has been opened at the same time as the Lucca Film Festival 2009 (www.vistanova.it), to create with the festival a sort of conceptual link dedicated to the idea of production in the contemporary arts.

Rabea Eipperle (Germany, 1973) lives and works in Berlin.
Jan Haubelt (Czech Republic, 1977) lives and works in Prague.
Helena Hladilova (Czech Republic, 1983) lives and works in Carrara.
Filippo Manzini (Italy, 1975), lives and works Florence.
Gian Andrea Poletta (Italy, 1984), lives and works in Venice.
Namsal Siedlecki (Usa, 1986) lives and works in Carrara.
Filip Smetana (Czech Republic, 1983) lives and works in Prague.
